Marriage is an institution that is followed almost in all the customs and religions. Today we find various services and sites launched in the market related to matrimonial. These sites and agencies maintain a regular data which is termed as marriage record. The marriage record is widely used by the online services, uploaded on the net they also serve as a reference point for the bride and the groom to make their choices. These records are published not only on the websites but also sent through the newspaper. The details are published in interest of the concern people, either the parents or family or in favor of the bride and the groom themselves. One can easily access the data to find their suitable match through the data available by browsing the net or a read through the newspaper. The modernizations of these records have only bargained the elimination of various channels that were relied on earlier. However one needs to be careful while they are selecting the match through these sites or newspaper. As it may not be as flawless as it seems to be. While using these channels one needs to make a detailed inquiry of the person who they are selecting. These records only facilitate in showing the right options or rather options that are available for them. At the end the responsibility to choose the best and suitable depends on the individual.

Once this choice is made, the next step is fixing up the marriage. While the marriage happens it is now important for it to get registered. This was not the case in early days. Then the certification to marriage was given by the people who were present and not many of the proofs were required however this is not the scenario today. Today there are written documents demanded by the Indian Court and others serving as a Marriage Record for the marriage. This shows that today it is just not sufficient for the bride and the groom takes the vows of life and death, they also require to certify their knot legally that could either be done from the court by a call of a lawyer or by the priest who is involved in the event of marriage. As specified earlier this certification is called as Marriage record for the marriage of the bride and the groom. Considering a typical format of a marriage record, it would contain the date of birth of both the bride and the groom, name of the guardian (usually the father’s name) and the place of marriage with the time of marriage on the receipt with a nominal charge while the marriage happens and latter showing the receipt there could be a marriage record obtained from the legal authority (either at the place of pilgrimage where the event of marriage has happened or from the court, submitting the proof for the marriage). To conclude one can say that, institution of marriage has witnessed various changes and today we find modern technologies joining hands with the matrimonial services and create a database of the bride and the groom called as marriage records. The word has another meaning which is the legal certification of marriage from either governmental authorities or from the pilgrimage place.
