How long doe’s a petty theft in the fourth degree stay on my record?

8 months ago a friend and I were caught stealing ~25 dollars of merchandise from a store. We get a citation, never had to go to court. Just paid the $50 ticket. We didn’t even get trespassing at the store. How long will this stay on my record? because I believe its putting a damper on me getting a job.
